What can I study in the U.S.?

An athletic scholarship does not limit you in any way concerning your field of study. This means you can study what you want. You study at an institute of your choice as a regular student would do and enjoy the additional privileges as an athlete. Most universities offer a wide variety of other disciplines. An important part of our service to you is to help you choose the right school and find the university that best meets your needs and interests.

Do American universities enjoy a good recognition?

To answer your question, I have picked out two of the most important global rankings of universities, showing that the best universities in the world are found mainly in the U.S. and are therefore internationally recognized very well

Obviously, the German universities are compared to American universities internationally, unfortunately only a few are as competitive. However, this is great news for you. Without grants, these institutions are simply not affordable, while the US University will pay a large part of or the entire cost for your athletic performance and also offer you great environment for your sport. At a university like Harvard, Stanford, Yale and other top faculties you follow your studies, and of course, gain potentially great opportunities in the labor market. Does this answer your question about this or can we give you more information?

Is it difficult to take the whole program in English?

Exactly the same fear as many of our customers, but all it takes is for 3-4 weeks and you will speak good English because, you will speak English all day with the coach, team mates and friends in a relaxed environment.
Even clients who have 6 points in the basic English course in the first semester reached very high marks. In addition, the TOEFL will ensure that your English is good enough to succeed in studying in the U.S. The American colleges are very international and in each course there are people whose first language is not English.

Will my course work in Europe or elsewhere be accepted anywhere in the world?

In Europe, in consequence of the Bologna reform, the American university system has been mostly retained. The transfer has the effect of making it easier for the students is so-called credits (measure of student achievement),
which are transferred between universities. The American university system is generally considered as one of the best in the world and a degree from a U.S. university is accepted virtually everywhere. Can I start my studies in Germany and then continue in the U.S.?

To be fair, I would like to inform you about the problems that can occur when you study first in Germany: 1. In the U.S., the sports leagues can be accessed with up to 8 full-time semesters completed (whether in Germany or USA).
Each semester, what has been studied in Germany is therefore subtracted from, so you might gamble away the chance to finish your studies in the U.S., if your German certificates are not accepted. If however you want to do only one year abroad in the U.S. or Canada, this is of course not a problem. 2. The older you are, the less attractive you are to the coaches, and the coaches prefer to develop over four years. With each semester that you are less entitled to start, it gives less opportunity to develop sports. Therefore, I can only advise to start your studies in the U.S. If you do decide otherwise and to start after 1 or 2 semesters we are of course always there for you.

How can I combine studies and sports?

In the U.S, in contrast to German universities, lecture plans, training and the competitions are coordinated so that there is no conflict between sport and study. There are many universities tutors specifically for athletes to help with all academic matters and ensure that neither sport nor studies suffer because of each other. Of course you have to make a lot to obtain good grades in the U.S., but by the targeted promotion of athletes, this usually works much better.

What are the differences between the German and American university systems?

In the U.S., Undergraduate Schools are meant as the schools that can be attended immediately after graduating from high school. The candidates have to provide, in addition to the High School Diploma (or even international degrees such as the Abitur or Matura), specific minimum grades, good letters of recommendation, copies of written work, and sometimes even interviews. Also, the TOEFL and the SAT are common in most universities. As an undergraduate student, you can expand your intellectual horizon regardless of career choice in the first year by studying subjects in all disciplines. Students of four-years colleges must choose one major just after one year.

Where will I live / sleep / eat /?

Most students live on campus in student residences. Many universities have residence halls, which are reserved for athletes and that offer a more comfortable room. Each university has a so-called “Dining Hall” and breakfast, lunch and dinner are served buffet style (this may be feasible to be part of the sports scholarship). As an athlete you do not only get the optimal food, but also save time because you do not even have to cook or shop.
