1. When should I apply for my passport?
Ideally, you should immediately order your passport at your local public office.
The process can take weeks. It will cost €37.50 and your passport will then be valid for 6 years. In an emergency you can also order an express passport (issue within 72 hours). This will cost 69.50€.
2. When should I apply for a visa?
You should apply for your visa three months prior to departure. For this you need the I-20 document of your university, you will be issued with this as soon as you have been accepted by the university.
